A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Briston earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance/Investments from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, graduating Cum Laude. His professional journey began at Patten and Patten, Inc., a portfolio management firm where he gained hands-on experience supporting client services, conducting research via Bloomberg Terminal, and assisting in operations. He later joined Advisor Compliance Associates Group (ACA), where his rapid ascent from Performance Analyst to Principal Consultant reflects both his experience and his leadership ability.
While at ACA, he specialized in Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) compliance, supporting top-tier asset managers in meeting regulatory standards set by the CFA Institute. One of his proudest professional accomplishments was leading a high-stakes project for a global private equity firm—ultimately securing a $260,000 outsourcing contract by developing and executing a tailored operational solution for the client.
Briston chose to pivot into financial services because of a life-changing experience—when a friend in financial distress turned to him for guidance. It made him realize how many people lack financial support and direction, inspiring his commitment to help others plan with clarity and confidence. At Ashford Advisors, he combines technical knowledge with a relationship-first approach, aiming to build long-lasting relationships that evolve with each client’s financial journey.
Outside of work, Briston is an avid sports enthusiast, lifelong Yankees and Florida Gators fan, and outdoor lover. A former three-sport high school athlete, he enjoys golfing, running, and watching both college and professional sports. He’s also a passionate traveler and has visited 25 of the 30 Major League Baseball stadiums with his family—an annual tradition that began in childhood thanks to his father, a baseball coach and major influence in his life.
Briston is proud of his roots and the values instilled in him by his family, whose resilience continues to inspire him. He currently lives in Chattanooga with his girlfriend, Emma, and their golden retriever, Judge. Together, they enjoy beach trips to Panama City and exploring the beauty of the U.S.—building memories and a future filled with purpose and adventure.
