Safeguard Yourself from the Risks of Disability

May 04, 2020

May is the month to bring awareness to Disability Insurance and how it can help you plan for life’s “what if?” moments. During Disability Insurance Awareness Month or DIAM, we’ve created a series of blog posts to help you get informed and educated on why it's important to consider Disability Insurance. In this post, we share an infographic that shows low odds that distract us from the high odds of disability.

We get caught up thinking about events that could affect our lives which are unrealistic with low chances of actually happening. However, there are other risks that you should keep in mind like an unexpected disability the could prevent you from working. You may be wondering, “But what are the odds I will experience a disability?” The statistics show that 1 in 4 people experience a disability during their working years1. Disabilities happen more often than you think, and the best time to take action to protect yourself is now. Planning for the unexpected will reassure you if you face an obstacle in the future, like being unable to work. Even though we feel invincible at times, the risk of our health being affected is real. At Ashford Advisors, let us help you focus on what’s important and better plan for life’s “what if?” moments.
