Opportunity is N O W H E R E

How do you read that sentence?

When I ask most people what that sentence says, 9 out of 10 people read it as “Opportunity is nowhere.”  And that is true.  But, if you shift how you look at something, it has an entirely different meaning.

“Opportunity is NOW HERE.”

I entered the financial services industry 10 years ago, and I LOVE what I do.  I passionately believe there is not a better time to be in this industry and have a positive impact on the lives of the families and clients who work with us.

There is a huge opportunity for the type of work we do, for the people and companies who are doing it rightConsider these statistics:

  • 52% of adults with self-directed retirement accounts do not seek out financial advice because they either cannot afford assistance or would like help but do not know where to get it1
  • 46% of adults say they either could not cover an emergency expense costing $400, or would cover it by selling something or borrowing money1
  • 31% of non-retired respondents report that they have no retirement savings or pension at all, including 27% of non-retired respondents age 60 or older1

Can you identify with just one of those items? Is it possible that everyone you know might identify with just one of those items?

Everyone needs help.  At Ashford Advisors, we coach our clients on those very things: protection, savings, and debt management.

Too many people exploring this career focus on “Who do I know who needs insurance?” or “Who do I know who has a 401k they can rollover?”  Too many people fear getting into this industry because they can’t think of many people when they try to answer those questions.  But I would argue that’s the wrong question to ask.

If we look at those statistics again, maybe we ask ourselves, “Who do I know that I could help?”

My goal as an advisor is to help people. To help my clients see and understand the bigger picture of money and how it really works. To help individuals who enter this career to see the opportunities to help people as bigger than just selling a policy or assets under management.  We are changing lives… helping families manage cash flow, protecting what is most important to them, and saving/growing their wealth for their future.

The opportunity is NOW HERE.

For you to work with an advisor who looks at the macro picture in your personal financial situation.

For you to consider a career where you change peoples lives everyday and find a passion for what you do.

For you to make a change.

The question is… will you?
