Final thoughts on 2020 and a look ahead

December 31, 2020

The year 2020 taught me that life is short, but God is right there with us. C.S. Lewis said, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” Like so many, 2020 brought me many difficulties that forced me to rely on my faith and confront my own mortality. Life is short. And sometimes I find myself focusing on the wrong things. Here are a few other final thoughts on 2020.

Don’t panic when the world goes awry

We all remember how quickly everything changed in early March 2020 – literally overnight. The world panicked gobbling up pallets of toilet paper. However, this reminded me to remember to expect the unexpected and plan accordingly. Whether it is life or finances, we must maintain a long-term perspective not getting caught-up in the daily news cycles. Be steadfast in good times and in bad.

Don’t be surprised with more surprises in 2021

The year 2020 brought us some surprises and the same will happen in 2021. There will be good surprises and bad surprises. I see many comments on social media about the relief people are feeling now that 2020 is officially in our rearview mirror. But, the truth is there are no guarantees 2021 smoother with less turmoil. Of course, that is my hope, but we can’t be surprised with surprised come.

What TFG is doing to handle 2021
